One Saturday every month, Madison MFT joins forces with professional healers to share tips for your journey. The best part is that this helpful healing doesn’t stop with you! Your participation helps others: all proceeds are donated to a different charity each month.
June’s Healing Saturday: Writing as a Healing Art
- Event Date: 6/2/2012
- Time: 11am – 1pm
- Donation: $25.00
- Proceeds go to: Visible Ink Writing Program at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center
- Instructor: Sarah Lebeck-Jobe, MS
- Location: Madison MFT: 271 Madison Avenue, Suite 1400
Join Sarah Lebeck-Jobe, MS for a creative healing group where you are invited to explore the healing power of writing. Writing offers an opportunity to release stress, cope with difficult emotions, and change the stories we tell about our lives. Research has demonstrated that writing about emotional experiences may reduce anxiety and depression and improve physical health.
During our time together, each participant will practice writing about a meaningful event in her life. We will explore how the process of writing about our pain, joy, or sorrow has the potential to change our perception of our experiences. You will be invited to share your writing and your experience of writing with the group.
Please bring a journal or notebook for your personal responses to the writing activities. No prior writing experience is necessary to participate.
This month’s charity will be the Visible Ink Writing Program, which pairs cancer patients interested in expressing themselves through the written word with writing professionals. Visible Ink promotes self-expression, stress reduction, personal growth, and individual success for participants who have experienced a serious illness. We ask each individual to bring a donation of $25.00 for this charity.
Please RSVP due to limited space.
